SPOTLIGHT: KATHLEEN EIDSON, GHA DIRECTOR EMERITA

KATHLEEN EIDSON,
GHA DIRECTOR EMERITA

Kathleen Eidson, GHA Director Emerita, passed away in August 2020, just one month before her 101st birthday. However, for 48 years, Kathleen observed, up close, GHA’s impact.

A lifelong traveler, Kathleen visited many of GHA’s program sites as well as health centers, hospitals, and community health initiatives led by graduates of GHA’s training programs. During one such trip, Kathleen visited Bhopal, India, where GHA had trained many of the nurses who later were the first responders during the Bhopal gas disaster in 1984 that killed thousands and injured many, many more, an event still considered the world’s worst industrial disaster.

Kathleen asserts, “I know firsthand, not just by hearsay, the difference that GHA makes!”

Kathleen often shared that being a part of GHA was one of the most important things in her life. For that very reason, she supported GHA not only as an annual donor but also as an inaugural member of the GHA Legacy Circle.

What makes a difference in this world? According to Kathleen,
“It’s the individual, looking beyond the present situation to the possibilities, and then working to achieve those possibilities.”
