Community systems are the basis for strong, healthy and resilient communities. Without the respectful engagement of communities and strengthening of those systems, health interventions only last temporarily.

Featured Current Projects
GHA Co-creation Capacity Building Small Grants
GHA released its first series of cocreation capacity building grants to nine (9) organizations in 2021. This small grants program was established to strategically build the capacity of local grassroots organizations in the areas of (1) community health assessments; (2) leadership development and organizational development; and (3) effective strategies to meet critical community health needs locally. Healthy Mothers|Healthy Babies in Haiti
GHA strengthens the community health capacity of local traditional birth attendants for clean and safe births for mothers in remote communities in Haiti through monthly trainings in skill building, ongoing assessments and support for referrals of complicated births to the local health facility. Many communities served have up to a five (5) hour walk to the nearest health facility, leaving mothers and families without birthing support if not for the traditional birth attendants.
GHA East Africa Network & COVID-19 Response Team
During a GHA training in Kenya, participants shared of the unmet need for their organizations seeking to strengthen their skills and organizational capacities, and the reality that they were the only organizations operating and meeting the needs of their communities e.g. refugee communities, remote communities, informal settlements etc. Out of this need, a call for the creation of the GHA East Africa Network was formed to provide ongoing support to members as they share and invest in each other and their communities.
